Gouldian Finch for sale

Gouldian Finch for sale, the Gouldian Finches are not extremely difficult birds to keep, they are rather expensive and are generally kept by more experienced bird keepers. these Finches are also not too difficult to breed and will breed well in colonies or as pairs in cages.

To learn to care for this bird, a beginner could start with the Zebra Finch. They are much less expensive and have very similar environmental requirements and many of the same behaviors.

Gouldian Finches are 5.5″ – 6″(14 -15 cm) with the females being a bit smaller. The males are the more colorful. The females are a bit duller, especially less intense in the breast color.

Normal males have purple breasts, yellow bellies, and green bodies. The black-headed Gouldian is the most common in the wild, but about one out of four will have a redhead and on a rare occasion, a yellow head. Breeders have developed a variety of color mutations including the white-breasted, yellow-headed, rose-breasted, blue-breasted, blue-bodied, and white-bodied. The variations continue to grow.

FINCHES FOR SALE

Finches for sale

Finches For Sale, Finches are small tiny birds, so it can be easy to overlook them. However, these little pretty birds are among the most popular and widely kept types of pet birds in the world, so it is safe to say that many prefer them to larger bird species such as parrots and parakeets. Finches don not talk and are hands-off birds, but they delight their owners with their aerial antics and social interactions with one another.

Care and Feeding of Finches

Finches need spacious housing, especially since they spend most, if not all, of their time inside their enclosure. These birds should remain fully flighted instead of having trimmed wing feathers. A horizontal cage is a must (as opposed to a vertical cage).

Finches are flock animals and thrive when housed with other finches (do not house a finch with a parrot because a parrot can injure a finch). If you house pairs of finches together, be prepared for possible offspring, especially if the finches are provided a nest (small wicker basket) and nesting material.

Some finches can be housed in same-sex pairs (a male finch with a male finch or a female finch with a female finch) to avoid the possibility of breeding but it depends on the finch species as well as possibly the time of the year. Consult an experienced finch breeder to see which same-sex finch pairs are most likely to get along.

A finch will thrive on a pelleted base diet, such as Lafeber’s Premium Daily Diet specifically designed for finches, supplemented with fresh greens and other vegetables, grubs, eggfood and some seed.

Personality and Behavior

Finches are popular as companion pets because of their pleasant sounds and social interactions with their flock mates, and, in the case of the Gouldian finch, their dazzling coloration. They are mostly hands off pet birds; instead preferring to be with other of their kind.
The pleasant chips of a small finch flock can often not be heard outside of the room that the birds are housed in, but many who own finches claim that their soft vocalizations are quite soothing, and choose to spend as much time in the same room with their birds as possible.

House Finches are gregarious birds that collect at feeders or perch high in nearby trees. When they’re not at feeders, they feed on the ground, on weed stalks, or in trees. They move fairly slowly and sit still as they shell seeds by crushing them with rapid bites. Flight is bouncy, like many finches.

Finches lifespan

LIFE CYCLE: Finches can live 15 to 20 years, but the more common lifespan is probably five to 10. FEEDING: This finch spends most of its time foraging above ground, looking for insect larvae — its favorite prey.
